If the board has failed on an operator no longer supported, the honest conversation is whether to hunt a used board or fit a current operator to the existing gate, which is often the better long term answer.
How do I get in if the power is out?
Every gate operator has a manual release, and knowing where yours is before you need it is worth five minutes. It is usually a key operated lever or a pull handle on the operator body, and releasing it disconnects the motor so the gate can be moved by hand. Some operators also carry a battery backup that will run a limited number of cycles during an outage, and those batteries are consumable and do fail with age. If you have never tested your release, ask to be shown it at the end of any service visit.
