My new LiftMaster remote will not program. Is the opener broken?
Almost certainly not. The remote has to match the opener's radio generation, and that is set by the colour of the learn button on the motor head. Yellow means Security Plus 2.0, purple means 315 MHz Security Plus, red or orange means 390 MHz Security Plus, green or grey means the older fixed code system. The motor runs but the door does not move. What is that?

Either the beam is being broken, the lenses are filmed over, or the two units are no longer aimed at each other. Sun striking the receiver eye in the afternoon does it as well. Wipe both lenses with a dry cloth and check the brackets are square. If it persists, the wiring is worth checking, particularly the staples along the jamb, which cut into the insulation over years and cause intermittent faults.
